Do you like sugar as much as I do? The Holidays are approaching, and we all want to stay healthy during the next three month.

We absolutely can do it!  We are all Humans, and we do love sweet things.

Simple science about sugar and why it makes you tired

Sugar is a simple carbohydrate that naturally occurs in grains, beans, vegetables, and fruit. When we eat sugar as a component of grains, beans, vegetables and fruit, our body absorb sugar differently as it comes with lots of fiber. Moreover, it contains vitamins, minerals, enzymes and proteins. Fiber helps to burn sugar slowly and evenly, it does not lead to a sharp spike in blood sugar. Therefore, you can feel, that energy that comes from eating sugar as a content of a whole Food, is sustained and being released smoothly.

On the contrary, if you eat refined sugar as a component of cookies, candy bars, cakes and so on, it enters immediately into the bloodstream and wreaks havoc on the blood sugar level, it goes up-high immediately and causes hyperactivity. Then it drops down and causes fatigue and exhaustion. There is no nutritional value in refined sugar, what so ever. Consumption of sugar on a consistent basis can lead the breakdown of other systems in our bodies, and of course, it causes a weight gain, bloating, feeling uncomfortable and overeating.

The food industry hijacks our palates or sugar is a legal drug

It is no surprise that the United States is the largest consumer of sweeteners. The obesity rate in the US is going up. Here is the link where you can see the data with the breakdown per state https://stateofobesity.org/adult-obesity/.The average American consumes more than 130 pounds of sugar and sweeteners per year. (Alice G. Walton. “How much sugar are Americans eating?”)

Sugar qualifies as an ADDICTIVE substance as it creates a desire to overeat. It is scary that the food industry controls our palates. I would like to bring your attention to the following questions:

  • How to become a sugar- free person?
  • How can we take control and enjoy the food that will nourish our bodies and let us feel awesome, have sustained energy throughout the day and stay in great physical shape?

Sugar cravings will disappear if you follow these steps

When I was on my way to becoming free from sugar cravings that controlled my palates, I implemented several steps, that I would like to share with you.

To be honest, it is a laborious process, although if you do it consistently for three weeks, your sugar cravings will disappear.

I took control of my body in terms of what I eat, how I handle stress and take time to develop relationships with my family and friends.

As our bodies are like bio-computers that never make mistakes, we should listen to the message that it sends to us about our cravings. If we do not eat enough healthy fats, the body will try to compensate it with lots of carbohydrates. It naturally wants to be balanced.

As I continued my research, I realized that the cause of my sugar cravings was the lack of macronutrients that led to this condition.

  1. I started to incorporate more healthy fat and proteininto my diet to provide macronutrient satisfaction for my body. I added extra virgin coconut oil, extra virgin olive oil and I make sure that with every meal that I have during the day, I eat a certain amount of protein.
  2. I cut down my sugar consumption, and now the only sweet foods that I eat are fruits, vegetables and 85% dark chocolate. It is essential to limit the amount of fruit that you eat throughout the day as well. No more than two fruits a day for 21 days to develop a habit. It is like growing the muscles in your body. If you exercise consistently with heavy weights, you get the result. We develop a habit of eating no refined sugar within 21 days on a consistent basis.

Amazingly enough, the cravings will disappearYou will look sexier, healthier, feel happier and vibrant!

Now, every time I have a meal, I visually create my plate, which I divide into 3 sections, where I have 50% of green leafy vegetables, 25 % of complex carbohydrates and 25 % of protein.  I get enough fat for my body by cooking with extra virgin olive and coconut oil.

  1. I, also, make sure that I drink eight glasses of spring water every day. The best way to curb your cravings is to add freshly squeezed lemon juice or 1 TBL of a raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar.
  2. I would suggest, that you learn how to handle stress. For example, breathing exercises, yoga, Pilates, meeting with friends, spa procedures can help you to relax your body. Get more sleep, rest, and relaxation. Simple carbohydrates, such as sugar, are the most readily available source of energy for an exhausted body and mind. If you’re in a state of chronic stress and/or sleep deprivation, your body will crave the quickest form of energy available – sugar.

On our website you can find lots of recipes for breakfast, lunch and dinner with no sugar added and they taste fantastic. When you cook try to experiment with spices. Coriander, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and cardamom will naturally sweeten your food and reduce cravings.

There are some natural alternatives for sugar like stevia or monk fruit sweetener that you can add into your diet, although I would recommend you to stick with no other options for sugar replacement for 21 days.

I am very excited to share my experience with you because I used to have the same issues with cravings, body weight, and digestive problems.
