The Quality of Food that We Eat. Dirty dozen of fruit and vegetables 2017

The more I have learned the more I understand the importance of quality of food that we eat every day.

In the recipes that I have included on my website I recommend you to use organically grown and raised food as much as possible.

For instance, organic fruit and vegetables, organic grass-fed meat, organic pasture-raised eggs, pasture-raised chicken, wild caught fish or fish that was raised on an organic farm.

My advice to you is to pay attention to the label on the product to make sure that the animal, chicken or fish was not treated with antibiotics or hormones.

There is a dirty dozen of fruit and vegetables that you should better to buy just organic, to avoid eating chemicals that were used to grow a particular vegetable or fruit.

This year (2017) the list includes:

1. Strawberries
2. Spinach
3. Nectarines
4. Apples
5. Peaches
6. Celery
7. Grapes
8. Pears
9. Cherries
10. Tomatoes
11. Sweet bell peppers
12. Potatoes

Each of these foods tested positive for a number of different pesticide residues and contained higher concentrations of pesticides than other produce. This list varies every year.

The body is 75% water. Thus, water is crucial to our survival. Therefore, I would recommend you to buy a special water tester to evaluate the quality of the water that you drink. They sell this tester on Amazon. Try to buy the highest quality of bottled water.

I am personally gluten free as I have a Hashimoto Thyroiditis disease.  However, for people, who are not sensitive to gluten, I would still recommend using organic gluten-free flour or at least organic whole grain flour.

We are what we eat . Food affects the way we feel in every aspect of our lives both physical and emotional. Yes, we pay a higher price for a better quality of food, however, we invest into our present and future to live a long, happy, vibrant, and harmonically well-balanced life.

Let’s eat for wellness!
