Have you ever thought that Food is information?

Food is our most intimate contact with our external environment. It interacts with our genes, regulating or disrupting normal biology pathways. Every time we eat, we trigger the process that regulates mood and behavior. What we eat – and how much – affects our overall health and mental wellbeing. What we eat, digest, absorb, assimilate, and excrete becomes us.Most of the diseases can be tied to food and lifestyle choices.
The modern diet-which is rich in pro-inflammatory processed oils and sugars that sends the wrong message to the body is responsible for most of the health outcomes like diabetes, cancer, mental disorders, heart diseases.

We need to pay attention to what we put into our body.

Our nutrition today, what we put in our mouth today is literally who we are becoming. It is shaping everything from our capacity to think, to work, digest food to the metabolism at which we burn calories. In general, whatever we put in our bodies from the outside world has an immediate impact on who we become eventually.

Sometimes, when we get sick, our body intuitively will ask either for a warm comforting chicken broth or leafy greens or just tea with a dash of cinnamon and honey. So, the body needs simple, restorative food. According to Elizabeth Lipski, and I agree with that, warm cooked foods are easier to digest and more healing. Also, balancing our macronutrients protein, fat and carbohydrates are very important as well. I noticed that I get better when I follow my body’s advice and eat unprocessed whole food. When we eat whole foods, we become a glowing example of health and vibrancy.

Try to write down everything you eat and drink in a food diary for 7 or 14 days. If you experience symptoms or your energy drops or your mood changes, write it down. Then see if you can correlate specific foods to the way you feel mentally and physically.

Here is the sample of the food diary that you can use:

DAY 1
Time of day   What did I eat?  Where was I?
 Who I was with?
How did I feel before I  started eating?
How did I feel in 1-3 hours or the next morning, if it was my dinner?

Always remember, food is so much more than just medicine. Food is related to human social interactions and community. Food is culture, love, and joy. A healthy relationship with food is essential because it has medicinal properties and helps us to feel healthy and vibrant.
